Otto is 10 Months!

Dear Otto,
Hi sweet, happy, bashful boy.  I can't believe you are 10 months old (although I'm behind so you are actually over 11 months as I finish this post).

I'm trying to soak up our time together before I head back to work.  Here is what you were up to this month.

Stats
We didn't have a BVC appointment this month but I'd guess you weighed about 9 kg.  You are in size 5 Pampers diapers.

I feel like this is a classic Otto face with your pouty lip.

Eating
I am getting braver in letting you eat solid foods.  The truth is I'm scared that you'll choke and I'll have to do back blows or CPR or something. I think just having two other kids eating at the same time and me trying to feed myself there are just lots of distractions.

You are still nursing 5 times per day (745, 11, 1245, 1530, 1910) and then eating solids at breakfast (830) lunch (12) and dinner (1730).  As soon as you finish nursing, you want to sit up immediately which makes me laugh.  Or you take the small burp rag I use to protect my clothes from getting wet and you flap it all around.

You love broccoli pieces which is great!  You'll eat eggs, bananas, blueberries, strawberries, pancakes, sweet potatoes and really whatever else I'll give you.  You still have an orange nose and spot on your leg from eating too many orange foods (why can't you find green baby foods).

Sleeping
You are doing a GREAT job sleeping!  You still take two naps.  One in the morning from 915/930-1030 and then an afternoon nap from 1245/13-15/1530.  On average, you nap about 3ish hours per day.  You will skip a morning nap occasionally if I try to get you to nap in the stroller but then you are usually fine making it to your afternoon nap.  Sometimes I'll move up your afternoon nap but sometimes I won't.
Sleeping babies are so cute.
Giggle boy going to bed

I took you to my school to see coworkers and you missed your morning nap, then you met like 30 new people (several of them held you) and then you were a bit late for your afternoon nap and only napped for 45 minutes because you were in the stroller.  And you know what? You were still happy and content.  I took you and your sisters to the splash pool that afternoon and plopped you under our umbrella and you played by yourself while I watched your sisters. #dreambaby
I would love to claim that your easy-going personality is all because we are awesome parents but I know that it is not the full story.  Of course, I think putting you on a schedule and encouraging you to play alone and whatnot helps with your overall easy goingness but your personality is so laid back.  You are just such a gift of joy and contentedness.  I'm curious to see what you are like as a toddler because Stella was very chill as a baby, although not as chill as you, and she is a crazy toddler.

Clothes
I bought some summer rompers for you and they are 18 months. Your length is in your torso and there wasn't much difference between 12 and 18 months so I went with 18.  You still can wear some 9 month and 12 month clothes.
This was your daddy's outfit.

Playtime
You are able to play by yourself or while watching your sisters for a good portion of the day.  During some of your playtime, I've tried encouraging you to go from your bottom to your belly or to get on all fours but then I remember the more mobile you are the harder life is going to get so then I try not to worry about it too much.

Our Days
Our days at home together are coming to an end and I am not ready.  I have 7 weeks of parental leave left as I type this and that makes me sad.  With Stella, I was ready to go back to work when she was about 10 months old but I realized that was in the middle of winter.  My last several months with her were November, December, and January and those are just dark, long and cold months usually filled with someone being sick.  Now my days are filled with sunshine, park playdates, the stroller gang meetups and warm weather.  Plus with our Covid vaccines and other friends getting their shots I feel like for the first time in 1.5 years we can finally do normal get-togethers.  So yeah, not really excited about going back to work but I know I'll enjoy the classroom once I'm back.

Activities and Outings
Once we got back to Sweden we finally got to hangout with some friends inside since we were vaccinated.  Man it felt great!

Your dad and I have been trying to do at-home date nights once a week.  This night we played games on the balcony and I beat your dad!

We celebrated Midsummer, Sweden's biggest holiday, with preschool friends and neighbors.  It was rainy that morning but cleared up in the afternoon.  We had a great day!

We had a very warm June and enjoyed time in the lake and the splash pool.

We met up with my friend and work colleague Jenny and her family at the park.  Otto and Calle are going to be great friends!
Jake and I celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary this year.

Firsts and New Skills
I keep thinking tooth number 8 will pop through with all of the drooling you've been doing but so far no such luck.

You have gone from bottom to belly a few times but not regularly yet.

Sister & Brother Moments
Stella gets really excited when you touch her or look at her or crawl to her.  Linnea still smothers you for as long as I will let her.  The other day Linnea was sad that you crawled to Stella because she really wanted you to crawl to her.
Linnea put sand in Stella's hair at preschool when she was sweaty and it was so hard to get out.
Both of your sisters claim you've said your first word which is usually just a grunt or a random sound.

Linnea New Skills
Linnea learned a song, Goliat, for her end of preschool party.  She then performed it for us plus Johan and Chelsea one night when they were over.  It included dance moves, snapping and whistling.

One of our favorite teachers left the preschool. We will miss Ms. Rebecka!

Linnea is going to "big school" next year. We had "meet the teacher night" and met her teacher and classmates.  We had a very quick walk through school which was fun.
Linnea Funnies/Quotes
Linnea is still trying so hard to fly.  Her newest plan is to pack up snacks and clothes and take her out at night to let her try to fly but it has to be getting dark which doesn't actually happen in the summer in Stockholm.  So we are going to give it a try in the fall.
Linnea did convince Jake to let her ride her broom to school the other day which was fun.
Stella New Skills
Stella loves to dance and jump around.
Stella did this by herself. She is getting so big!
"I wasn't expecting to be up this high."

Stella got sent home sick one day from school and she fell asleep on me. It was really, really sweet.
Feeling the rain

Stella Funnies/Quotes
This girl is a walking bubble of joy and ridiculousness.
Remember
I say this every month but it is because I truly don't want to forget the feeling of you asleep on my chest. It is my very favorite thing.
Having kids is exhausting. I always wanted to be a mom and I can't believe I have 3 kids and also I don't think I realized how hard it would be or how much I'd look at pictures after you were asleep.  Ha! Sleeping kids are the sweetest.

Love,
Your Mama
